Roumy cheese is believed to have originated from Greek kefalotyri cheese. However, the first known Rumi cheese was discovered in Saqqara and has been enjoyed in Egypt since at least 3200 BC! It's considered the main hard cheese of Egypt.
It is crafted from cow's milk that has been pasteurized. This cheese undergoes an aging process lasting anywhere from 3 to 6 months, resulting in a flavor profile that falls between mild and moderate.
